small sketches

this collection of paintings is a mix of doodles, sparks of inspiration and plans for future paintings that I don’t want to forget.

often working on more than one painting at a time - these smaller works are a mix of the current color palettes of the larger paintings being created.

most of these sketches are between one and three layers of paint. a typical painting in the other collections has up to 100 layers.

these four small sketches were done at the top of a field in Glastonbury, CT in 2017 - capturing the sunsets in real time.

the two sketches above were done of photos I took in 2019 when I was lucky enough to be visiting Giverny.
