not sure if I was in school yet, but ‘first flowers’ (below) was painted when I was a young kid and given to my dad where it hung at his desk at work for close to 30 years. he brought it home with him once he retired a couple years ago and has given it back to me to keep in my collection.

this next work ‘cala lily’ was done in elementary school, I think it was second, maybe third grade. I remember doing a lot of floral paintings and drawings in school and this one lasted all those years. fun to look back on what I was creating as a kid.

the painting below ‘ode to monet’ was done in about 15 minutes as a quick exercise for my college watercolor class - we were asked to go to the library, pick out an artist book of work an re-create a painting from it. I chose a painting by monet of mont st. michel and am very please with how this impromptu work turned out.

I was even lucky enough to see the original of this work in person when visiting giverny in 2019.

in this bright future you can’t forget your past.

‘philly front doors’ was created in 2020 - during the very early stage of the pandemic, around May. I was planning to move to philadelphia that following month, and due to the state of the world…my plans changed. I was unsure of my next steps at the time, but painted this to bring some of that philly charm to my one bedroom apartment in connecticut.

‘storybook’ (below) was another school assignment. We were tasked with re-painting an image from a children’s book as most of the illustrations in those are done in watercolor. I can’t remember the book I chose, but I was proud of this painting and liked the image enough to hang onto it.

The next work is very near and dear to my heart - samson. he was my first and best pup and sadly passed away in 2021 at the age of 12. A few years earlier, when he was about 8 I was sitting with him and decided to do a blind contour drawing of his cute face (what you see below).

It looked just like him and I enjoyed it so much that a couple years later, I decided to get a tattoo of it on my right forearm. now, he’s always with me.
